How to manage e-invoicing with the Singapore government
Currently, Singapore's central government recommends and encourages companies to use e-invoicing through the Peppol network.
E-invoicing in Singapore is set up in UBL format
Electronic invoicing is not a simple PDF, it is an invoice in a structured electronic format and, many times, this format may be different depending on the recipient.
In Singapore, e-invoicing is being implemented through the Peppol network and its standards. As a consequence, companies must generate and send electronic invoices in UBL format, which is the format used in this international network.
What is UBL format?Routing codes: Peppol ID
In e-invoicing processes, most documents must contain routing codes. These codes are used to redirect the invoice and allow its correct processing.
In the case of e-invoicing in SG and the transmission of documents through Peppol, these must contain the Peppol ID. It is mandatory and necessary to be able to issue the invoice through this environment.
Valid identifier: Singapore UEN
It is important to have the recipient’s identifier (Singapore UEN) in order to issue the e-invoice.
Each receiver has a different identifier and all electronic invoices must contain this information.
Peppol network as a method of sending e-invoices to the government
Sending an electronic invoice to Singapore’s government is not as easy as sending it via email.
The implementation of e-invoicing in Singapore has been done through the Peppol network. This is an international document exchange network, which allows you to connect with other companies for the transmission of documents.
To access the Peppol environment, it is necessary to register with a certified Peppol Access Point.
